1       Introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest

1.1 The Chair welcomed Members and members of the public to the meeting.

1.2 Apologies for absence were received from Caroline Jones AM.

 

2       Inquiry into winter preparedness 2016/17 - evidence session with the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Sport and Minister for Social Services and Public Health

2.1 The Committee received evidence from the Cabinet Secretary and the Minister and their accompanying officials.

 

3       Paper(s) to note

3.1   Inquiry into winter preparedness 2016/17 - Additional information from the Welsh Ambulance Services (NHS) Trust

3.1.a The Committee noted the additional information from the Welsh Ambulance Services (NHS) Trust.

 

4       Motion under Standing Order 17.42 to resolve to exclude the public from the remainder of the meeting and from the meeting on 23 November

4.1 The Committee agreed the motion.

 

5       Inquiry into winter preparedness 2016/17 - consideration of evidence given by the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Sport and Minister for Social Services and Public Health

5.1 The Committee considered the evidence given by the Cabinet Secretary, the Minister and their officials, and agreed a set of key issues to be included in its draft report.

 

6       Scrutiny of the Welsh Government draft budget 2017-18 - consideration of the draft letter to the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Sport and Minister for Social Services and Public Health

6.1 The Committee considered and agreed its letter to the Cabinet Secretary and Minister in relation to the draft budget 2017-18.

 

7       Consideration of the Committee's Forward Work Programme

7.1 The Committee considered an update to its future forward work programme and agreed to:

·         write to the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Sport seeking further details on the establishment of Health Education Wales (HEW) and the timescale for the consultation;

·         invite Professor Robin Williams and/or members of his advisory team, who undertook the scoping work for the new model for delivering health professional education and training, to give evidence on our inquiry into medical recruitment.
